Four Peaks High Country Track is a walking, tramping, hiking and/or mountain biking experience, situated on our working high country sheep station, near Fairlie, South Canterbury.

We are 10 kilometres east of Fairlie and 1.75 hours south of Christchurch, in the South Island of New Zealand.

We offer a three day/2 night hike, an amazing opportunity to experience a South Island high country station.

Four Peaks High Country Track is a walking, tramping, hiking and/or mountain biking experience, situated on our working high country cattle and deer station, near Fairlie, South Canterbury.

We are 10 kilometres east of Fairlie and 1.75 hours south of Christchurch, in the South Island of New Zealand.

We offer a 3 day/2 night walking or mountain biking circuit. We have two options:
–  2 night stay and walk from the historic Sutherland’s Hut; or
–  2 night/2 day mountain biking adventure for very experienced bikers.

This is an amazing opportunity to experience a South Island high country station.

There are many places throughout New Zealand where you can enjoy hiking and mountain biking in amazing landscapes. What sets the Four Peaks walking track apart is it’s ability to offer the feeling of pioneering and a sense of where we have come from.

During your walk or mountain bike ride you will stay in our unique Shepherds’ Huts once used by shepherds for mustering and boundary keeping from the 1860s to the 1970s  back when there was little or no fencing in the South Island high country.

Today our Shepherds’ Huts have been refurbished and upgraded to ensure our guests maximum comfort and cosiness. While the huts have been upgraded we have taken great care to retain as much of their original history and charm as possible, giving you a wonderful, authentic experience.

    This walk was a fabulous way to get away from the hurly burly of work! The tracks were well marked, the huts were wonderful – basic but with comfy beds and the total luxury of hot showers and flush loos! Also well written history on each place. The beautiful scenery and peace of the whole station makes this an amazing experience
